Why I Put Down One Book to Write Another

Hey there! If you've been here before, you might notice things look a bit different now. This site used to be all about running and my book in progress, The Professional Amateur Runner. The plan was to share my VERY amateur experiences and stories from my "running career," complete with heartfelt tales, lessons, and training tips. Before that, there was a dramatic stormy image with the title Running Through the Storm, hinting at a memoir.

So, what’s the deal? Did you stumble onto a page with multiple personalities? Don’t worry, I haven’t ditched the running book because I’ve lost my love for running. It’s still a big part of my life, and the draft is sitting on my computer with a few chapters ready to go.

The idea for The Watershed Man came about because I was itching for something creative. Full disclosure: I asked A.I. for some fun fiction ideas with a bit of humor. I got a bunch of suggestions, but one really stood out, similar to the undercover operative stories I’ve been into during my commutes. The concept of a CIA operative who can’t hide in a small town was intriguing. I added a touch of germaphobia after using my own sanitizer at the gas pump, and that’s how Reed Calder came to life.

I haven’t given up on my memoir or instructional book ideas, but sometimes you just need a change of pace.

Come along for the ride!
